“Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” Sergei Rachmaninov’s insightful words speak of the infinite quality of music that links peoples and generations in a common language. With each performance, music becomes a unique adventure for both performer and listener. In March 2009, Music for A New Day will capture this experience in a program rich in musical repertoire that creatively unites the talents of professional musicians with exceptionally gifted performers from the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. This inspiring event will feature selections from well-known classics, including Singet dem Herrn, J.S. Bach’s exuberant motet for double choir, and works by Monteverdi, Stanford and Chesnokov, to settings of traditional folk songs that reflect national heritage and have a place in our culture for the enduring message they bring.
