Artistic Team

Jeff Cregeur
Artistic Director
Jeff Cregeur is a classical tenor, director/conductor, composer, and pianist, who received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Composition at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in 2018. He trained formally for 8 years on piano in both classical and jazz styles, and continues his exploration of the instrument to this day. He currently studies voice as a tenor with Valerie Sorel and Eric Trudel.
In 2019, Jeff began directing and conducting numerous musicals around Connecticut with high schools and community organizations. He teaches voice and piano privately through Cregeur Music Studio and is the Music Minister at South Congregational Church in East Hartford. Jeff also serves as the Music Director/Teacher at The Williams School in New London, CT, where he has developed various unique classes that combine music theory with composition, and chorus with solo voice training. He founded the concert series organization MOSAICS in East Hartford, CT in 2022, and Voices of Peace Choir in 2019; prior to taking over as Artistic Director for CitySingers.
He was awarded the Maestro Award in 2013 at the Heritage Music Festival in Annapolis, MD for his first original choral composition, and later that year had his second choral piece, “Look to the Rose”, premiered by Voce Inc. in Hartford, CT during their East meets West concert. Since then, he has had performances and premieres of his work at The New Britain Museum of American Art, The Hartt School of Music, The Williams School, and with CitySingers.
Jeff is excited to be growing the CitySingers of Hartford, helping to add new positions and a new professional vocal ensemble this year!

Meg Markwith
Collaborative Pianist
Meg Markwith is a musician who wears many hats including teacher, director, and performer. She has known that music would be her future for longer than she can remember, and has made that dream a reality in her adult life. She provides private piano, oboe, and voice lessons from her home in Terryville as well as through the Farmington Valley Academy Montessori. She is also lucky enough to have found a home in musical theater, music directing for theaters such as Landmark Community Theater and Community Theater at Woodbury in addition to educational theater through the Famington Valley Academy Montessori and Mandell JCC in West Hartford. Meg's third home is the Newington United Methodist Church, where she has served as music director since 2015.
Meg is a multi-instrumentalist, having studied classical piano for 12 years, flute for 10, and oboe and voice for 6 years in her hometown in Pennsylvania. She came to Connecticut pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance at The Hartt School at The University of Hartford, which she completed in 2017. After graduation, she started gaining experience as a gigging musician and as an educator while working toward her Master of Education in Kodály Music Education at Loyola University Maryland. She finished her journey in higher education in 2020 and continues to stay curious by taking lessons and enrolling in courses that keep her continually improving at her craft.
CitySingers is a dynamic group, and Meg is elated to be a part of it all!
